From birth, the brokenness of this world comes to permeate our innocence. It wants to contaminate us and won’t let up until it can break us. Scratch that, even from conception, there can be an all out assault for our demise. Experience after experience and trauma after trauma can leave an unequipped person completely shattered in soul. By unequipped, I mean unarmed with the word of God. The word of God, among many other things, equips us to confront challenges and to be able to withstand the tidal waves in life that rise up suddenly and want to overtake us. We are to put on the full armor of God.
Ephesians 6:10-18
10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. 11 Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. 12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age,[a] against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. 13 Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
14 Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness, 15 and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; 16 above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. 17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God; 18 praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints.
The good news is that Christ is our Redeemer. He brings restoration to our souls.
This world can be so brutal and full of lust and lies and taking advantage and just everyone wanting to take and take and… take some more!
Regardless of what has happened to you or what you let happen or what others have done to your body, your spirit was bought at a price. Jesus died to set you free from all shame, hurt and regret. As a believer and follower of Jesus Christ, your spirit belongs to Him and nothing in all creation could separate you from His love.
Romans 8:38-39
38 For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come,
39 Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Not only will we never be separated from Him but those of us in Christ, are immovable like Mt. Zion.
Psalm 125:1
They that trust in the LORD shall be as mount Zion, which cannot be removed, but abideth for ever.
We have unbreakable souls because our spirits are untouchable.
As I talked with a very young victim of human trafficking in Mexico, who had just given her life to Christ, this reassurance that her spirit is untouchable brought some solace that was evidenced in her eyes; she realized she is free indeed.
If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed. John 8:36
It is for freedom that Christ died, do not be entangled again to a yoke of bondage. Gal 5:1
Regardless of the circumstances you find yourself in, our hope is in Christ Jesus and the riches of His glory. This life is fleeting and will be over soon but eternal life in Christ is just beginning and never ends. He who perseveres to the end will receive a crown of life.
Matthew 24:13
But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.
If you have never accepted Jesus Christ in your heart, you can cry out to Him with a repentant heart and He is faithful and just to forgive us of our sins.
Romans 10:13
Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved
Joel 2:32
And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the LORD shall be delivered: for in mount Zion and in Jerusalem shall be deliverance, as the LORD hath said, and in the remnant whom the LORD shall call.
Acts 2:21
And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved.
