Unstoppable Love

Try to stop Your love and You would wage a war
Try to take the very thing You gave Your life for
And you would come running
Tear down every wall
All the while shouting
My Love, you’re worth it all
God you pursue me with power and glory
Unstoppable Love that never ends

The lyrics of this song started playing in my mind this morning as I was waking up; the morning of Valentine’s Day. Just as I was fighting feelings of singleness on this day and bearing burdens of my  friends in the same boat who call me desperate for prayer, here comes the Lord with His unrelenting declaration of love and confirmation that He is the number one pursuer of my heart. He truly is my eternal bridegroom. His love is like this unstoppable freight train that regardless of how I mess up, He still pursues me.

How can I ever doubt that He has my best at heart? How can I doubt that He wants me married more than I do!? Marriage was His idea. Of course He has the best suitor for me. I do not have to strive or worry or try to figure it out and I definitely do not have to settle. With all this love of God that has no end and is unsearchable, surely the Lord has put some of that in a special man that is on this earth right now, for me.  He knows what He is doing and He has an assignment for marriage. I believe that He will place me with the right man whom will match me and I will be the right “helpmate” for him and his calling. God can do all this and He will make it all come to pass in the right timing. He is after all, the creator of time.

I know that He has not forgotten me because it’s written all over His word and He has a special favor for orphans and widows.

James 1:27 (NKJV)

27 Pure and undefiled religion before God and the Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their trouble, and to keep oneself unspotted from the world.

My dad passed away many years ago and I come from a non-believing family. But my Abba has adopted me and I can cry out to Him “Abba” (See Romans 8:15 and Galatians 4:6).  I am His daughter and He is the best Father. What is there to worry about? I just need to come to Him in prayer and thanksgiving and make my requests known to Him and not be anxious.

Philippians 4:6-7 (NKJV)

Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

This Valentine’s Day evening there will be a dinner held at a certain house of worship in Mexico, for girls and women caught in the sex trafficking industry. His love is more than enough to break through the shame and trauma and melt the coldest of hearts. I believe He is taking these women who are like zombies in their hearts right now, and breathing new life into them. He is well able to make all things new (See 2 Cor. 5:17). He is able to wash them white as snow. I know that His unstoppable love is for them too. None of us is innocent without Him. Regardless if we’ve told one lie or have been a prostitute for years, all of us fall short of His glory and need Him but the good news is that while we were yet sinners Christ died for us and He is pursuing us with an unstoppable love.

His love is real.

A few days ago I went to this same place in Mexico where the women are in the streets selling themselves for a few dollars and I had the opportunity to pray with a few of them. As hard as they want to look, they are girls inside. They are hurting. Just a simple line, “God loves you and He hasn’t forgotten you” brought tears to their eyes and such relief. I could see that it was like the best gift to them. They feel so much shame and like they are forever separated from Christ but learning that Jesus died for them too is enough to break through their cold hearts. He drew the line in the sand for the prostitute. He hung out with the tax collectors and prostitutes. His heart melts for them. He doesn’t see them as stained, He sees them for what they can be in Him, completely made pure. Only His blood can do that.

Focusing on this King of Kings and His Kingdom, brings such peace. When our minds are fixed on Him, He gives us perfect peace.  Focus not on a hallmark holiday or a supposed biological clock or comparison to other people, focus on Him and He will cause you to soar above the trivial and temporal. He causes us to transcend and keeps us hidden in Him.

Isaiah 26:3 (NKJV)

You will keep him in perfect peace,
Whose mind is stayed on You,
Because he trusts in You.

If you are desiring to trust Him but don’t know how, just know it is a war and you have to fight for it.  Be brave, and ask the Lord to be your help. Cry out Mark 9:24 “Lord, I believe, help my unbelief!” He is faithful.
